Grierson DocLab In Focus: Production Management programme in partnership with Netflix
The Grierson Trust’s Grierson DocLab In Focus: Production Management programme, run in partnership with Netflix, is back for a third year.
The programme offers eight places to UK-based people aged 18+ (with no upper age limit) who have the transferable skills, experience and passion to pursue a career in documentary production management.
The Grierson Trust is a registered charity that exists to celebrate the best of documentary and factual filmmaking from Britain and around the world. Each year, Grierson: The British Documentary Awards, more fondly known as the Griersons or Grierson Awards – shine a spotlight on the best documentaries of the year across an array of genres. The Trust also nurtures factual TV talent via the Grierson DocLab training and mentoring schemes, helping to sustain and diversify the documentary workforce in the UK.
Successful candidates will receive:
- Intensive training (six days in-person training in London, with additional online sessions)
- A paid, three-month placement, working on a Netflix documentary production
- Mentoring by an industry mentor
- Continued support from The Grierson Trust
Diversity, Inclusion and Access
The Trust has an established track record of supporting under-represented groups in the documentary industry. They therefore particularly encourage applications from those from lower socio-economic backgrounds; disabled people; those from ethnic minority backgrounds and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
They also encourage candidates from geographical areas across the UK that do not have many opportunities in the screen industries to apply (please note that placements are most likely to be based in London).
Access
Netflix also have a separate fund to assist with any access needs, and so they particularly encourage disabled people to apply for the programme.
