Amazing artwork and written reviews

A painting of under the sea. A blue background and a strip of sand at the bottom of the painting. Lots of fish and colourful sea creatures cover the image.
“My name is Taylan. I’m 9 years old. I love to read non-fiction books. My favourite book is called The Ocean Book – A Deep Dive into the World’s Oceans.
It has lots of words and pictures. I learnt about marine mammals, marine reptiles, predators and prey. I like learning about where they live and what they eat. The flatfish are really funny looking!
I read with my mummy every evening. Sometimes if my eyes get tired we read a page each. I got the Year 5 reading award at school.
I painted a watercolour canvas of under the ocean so you can see it. It has lots of fish and meteors coming down from the sky.”
A drawing of Greg from Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

My book review is about the wonderful story ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’. This is one of a series of books by the author Jeff Kinney. I like this book because it is really funny, it feels like I am reading someone’s diary. This isn’t like other books. The diary is about a character named Greg who starts his first year of middle school. Lots of funny things happen to him, including an awful audition for a talent show, he gets embarrassed by his friends shenanigans and his family life creates lots of stories. He has two brothers Rodrick and Manny.

I would recommend these books as lots of Greg’s problems are relatable and grounded. It could happen to anybody. All the books are fantastic but the first one is my favorite. It’s an easy book to read as most of the pages are filled with comic-like pictures. I would give these books 9/10.

Brilliant book reviews

Caleb

I like The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I like him being very small and then a big fat caterpillar. I like to hold real caterpillars. The butterfly is very pretty and I like to flap my arms like I’m flying.

Dakota

I enjoy some quiet time with a book to relax and and I love to read about animals – cats are my favourite.

Eleanor

Hi, I’m Eleanor and I’m 13 years old. I’d like to tell you about a character from book ‘The Kissing Booth’ by Beth Reekles. This character is one that I never expected to like. But whilst reading the book I really warmed to him, I suppose in my own way, I sort of fell in love! His name is Noah Flynn and here’s a short description of him:

Noah Flynn is the kind of guy who turns heads the moment he walks into a room. He’s tall, broad-shouldered, and effortlessly confident, with dark hair that always seems like he just ran a hand through it. His sharp blue eyes just have a way of holding your gaze, making it impossible to look away. It’s also the way he carries himself with an easygoing charm that makes him stand out.

At first glance, he comes across as the classic bad boy. Rebellious, a little reckless, and not one to back down from a fight if he thinks someone he cares about is being treated unfairly. But beneath his tough exterior, there’s more to him. He’s fiercely protective of the people he cares about. He has a way of making moments feel electric, whether it’s a heated argument, a teasing remark, or a quiet moment of vulnerability.

Noah isn’t perfect though, he’s impulsive, quick-tempered, and sometimes makes decisions that cause more problems than they solve. But that’s what makes him feel real. He’s not just the guy everyone notices; he’s the guy who makes life a little more exciting and complicated but more so, impossible to forget.

Haider

I love listening to Harry Potter audio books on YouTube. I have listened to all the books multiple times and my favourite in the series is ‘The Deathly Hallows’.

Imogen

Imogen wanted to tell you that this year she dressed by as Milly Molly Mandy from the same books of her name. She loves the books through and through and her parents do too. It depicts a beautiful carefree life, where Milly Molly Mandy gets up to so much fun. There’s no sadness or deceit in these books, just pure joy. It’s a book depicting times gone past, but they are often things our daughter might have experienced herself.

Jessie

I love reading and I especially love to read Horrid Henry and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I like books with comic pictures as well. This year I swapped my book taken for a Pokémon book as Pokémon is also one of my favourite things.

Millie

I like ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ by Roald Dahl. I listened to the story with my mummy and he was very funny putting all the ingredients into the pot. It was really funny when his granny kept getting bigger and bigger and went through the roof! That was my favourite part. I think George was naughty for giving it to his granny, but it was really funny!

Olivia

Olivia loves and knows by heart all of the Julia Donaldson books. Olivia uses stories from books to relate and learn about different things that she can’t see. Olivia loves books that are full of intonation and will repeat different parts from them where they apply in real life. Olivia has learned so much from books already and I would like to nurture this aspect long-term.

Rita

My favourite books are by an author called Pip Bird. The series is called The Naughtiest Unicorn. My favourite book from the collection is The Naughtiest Unicorn and the School Disco. This book is my top choice because it involves glitter slime and going on an adventure into a cave.

I have two favourite characters. The first is Mira, who is a young girl who attends Unicorn School. I like Mira because she is kind, funny and always cares about others in her class. My other favourite character from the series is Dave the Unicorn. He is Mira’s unicorn and he is not like all the other unicorns. Dave is one of a kind! I love Dave because he is very funny because he does silly things such as farting, doing rainbow unicorn poos and eating endless donuts…he gets into trouble a lot!

Rivalee

Rivalee – Julia Donaldson is Rivalee’s favourite author. We must have the whole collection! Her favourite book is Squash and a Squeeze. We also have her CD songs playing in the car repeatedly, with Shopping Trolly as her favourite

Rory

Rowan loves Julia Donaldson books, he often recites full books back at us while we are out and about. Recently he told us he was the highway rat when we were riding a horse on a carousel. He told his daddy that he was the rabbit and that he was going to steal his clover. He also loves Thomas the Tank Engine, and his favourite character is Molly. Molly is a yellow tender engine and yellow is his favourite colour.

Rupert

My favourite book is ‘Dog Man’. I think he’s really funny and brave!

Toby

My favourite character and book is Paddington Bear. I love all of his stories as he is different and has struggled to fit in but he has managed greatly and became a very well known and loved bear.
