Here are some of our little bookworms’ favourite stories!
“My favourite book is The Rainbow Fish because it was not kind and then it was kind in the end.” – Gabriella
“So my book review is about Harry Potter. What I like about it is Rubeus Hagrid because he is really kind to Harry and he helps Harry a lot in all of the seven books. If you’ve not read them they’re really good. And what I don’t like about it is Lord Voldemort because he’s really mean and does loads of bad stuff. I would give Harry Potter a rating of 5 out of 5 because it is a really good book if you like stuff like magic and thrill.” – Evia
We loved your creative costumes!

“My favourite book character is Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I wanted to dress up as Dorothy for World Book Day this year because I love her dog Toto. I have a buddy dog from Guide Dogs. He is called Pablo and I think he would like Toto and they would be friends.” – Macy

“My favourite character is Elsa from Frozen, I love singing the songs and I have a musical Frozen book which I really enjoy. I dressed up as Elsa for World Book Day with my hair in a plait just like her.” – Poppy

Enzo’s mum says “Enzo was very excited when we found this book at the library about Imogen and her magic cane! He said “Imogen has got snowball and I’ve got sunflower!” which is what he calls his cane. Now he loves to make rainbows with his sunflower wherever they go.

Jasper absolutely loves anything to do with Thomas the Tank Engine! He has all the trains, knows all their names, colours and numbers, and if you ask him he’ll normally say The Lost Engine or Gordon are his favourite! He doesn’t love fancy dress but was super happy with his new Thomas and Friends onesie for World Book Day 2025!

“I love books by Roald Dhal, David Walliams and Dave Pilky. I listen to lots of audio stories and I’m learning Braille at school so I can read books by myself. My parents are currently reading a Marvel book to me, I love Captain America and I dressed as him for World Book Day.” – Harry

“My favourite book is The Lion Inside because it tells me that when I’m not feeling very brave and I’m scared like the little mouse in the book then there’s still a brave lion inside of me and it’s okay because I’m a brave lion and a little not very brave mouse at the same time.” – Harvey

Sonny adores listening to stories. He is non-verbal and uses gestures and switches to communicate. He adores the story The Gingerbread Man, and he wears the biggest smile and gets very excited when it gets to the repeating rhyme: ‘Run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man!’

Ruairi loves listening to stories, his favourite stories are by Rachel Bright. At the moment, he loves The Lion Inside and The Koala Who Could. He chooses these books every night for his bedtime story. Ruairi dressed up as the Lion for World Book Day.

Ruby is reading a Series of Unfortunate Events with her dad. She dressed up as Violet Baudelaire for World Book Day and even brought a spyglass in as a prop!

“My name is Taylan. I’m 9 years old. I love to read non-fiction books. My favourite book is called The Ocean Book – A Deep Dive into the World’s Oceans.
It has lots of words and pictures. I learnt about marine mammals, marine reptiles, predators and prey. I like learning about where they live and what they eat. The flatfish are really funny looking!
I read with my mummy every evening. Sometimes if my eyes get tired we read a page each. I got the Year 5 reading award at school.
I painted a watercolour canvas of under the ocean so you can see it. It has lots of fish and meteors coming down from the sky.”
