New College Worcester (NCW)

Find out more about New College Worcester (NCW)! Here is some helpful information from the school to introduce you to what they’re all about…

NCW is a national residential school and college for young people aged 11 to 19 who are blind or vision impaired. Based in Worcester (25 miles south of Birmingham) we are centrally located minutes from the M5 but with a leafy campus overlooking the Malvern Hills.

Every student at NCW has a tailored programme, carefully planned and delivered to meet their individual needs in three key areas; academic achievement, independent living skills and involvement in extracurricular activities at the College and in the community.

The opportunities provided to students in these three areas of provision play a crucial role in the development of confidence and self-esteem and preparation for life beyond NCW.

Most of our students are weekly or full boarders and a few who live close enough travel to us every day. Being residential means that all the learning that takes place in the school setting can be practised and embedded in the evenings and weekend in the residential accommodation.

At NCW the young people are able to access lessons in their preferred medium of work so they make progress in learning, gain essential qualifications, make friends for life and learn the essential skills they need to move into independent adulthood.
